What is reiki?

Reiki is an ancient healing technique, originally from Japan. It has been scientifically shown to reduce stress, anxiety and pain, and promote healing. Today, it is often used to calm patients and promote healing in hospitals in several countries around the world.

It is a holistic approach to healing, working on the body, spirit, mind, and emotions. Think of it like acupuncture, but with energy instead of needles. As with many other holistic medicines, it works on the idea that if a person's "life force energy", or ki/qi is low, they are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, they are more resilient, happier and healthier. Therefore it is a complimentary treatment and should be used alongside medical recommendations, not instead of. 

Reiki practitioners act as a middle ground between you and energy. A reiki session usually involves hands placed on or close to your body and energy travels through the practitioner and from their hands to you. You only take in the energy flow that your body decides it needs, instead of what the reiki practitioner sends to you. So it is completely safe.

How does distance reiki work?

Distance reiki is a form of reiki healing where the practitioner sends healing energy to a recipient who is not physically present. This is possible because energy is not limited by physical distance and can be transmitted across space and time. The "life force energy" that flows through all living things can be directed to anyone, regardless of where they are in the world.

During a distance reiki session, practitioners use a special symbol which helps them bridge the physical distance and connect with the recipient's energy field. It acts as a tool for linking the practitioner and the recipient energetically. Once the connection is established, the practitioner channels reiki energy in the same way they would in an in-person session.

Even though the recipient is not physically present, many people report feeling sensations during a distance reiki session, such as warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, or a sense of peace. The effects can vary from person to person, but often they experience a shift in their energy and mood.

Each session begins with a trauma-informed coaching or somatic healing session, or a combination - depending on what you need. Here, we’ll explore your current challenges, identify limiting beliefs, and work on healing your nervous system. Afterwards, you will receive a calming reiki session, designed to integrate the emotional and mental work done in the coaching and provide deep relaxation and healing at an energetic level.

About Lee

Lee is a reiki master (Holy Fire), somatic healing practitioner, trauma-informed coach, and certified Soul Realignment® practitioner. She also has a PhD in neuroscience and a background in sports science.

Lee uses ancient wisdom and modern neuroscience to help you heal your nervous system and release your limiting beliefs, blocks and triggers. She's passionate about helping people overcome trauma-adapted behaviour and feel so much more free, happier and calmer.

She, like many others, has had a lot of childhood trauma to work through. When she found that traditional talk therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy only helped her to a small extent, she started to experiment with other methods including energy, the nervous system, and working with the mind and the body to overcome limiting beliefs and triggers.

Lee is a member of both the Swedish Reiki Federation (Reikiförbundet) and the International Center for Reiki Training. She was taught in person by the the originator of the Usui/Tibetan system of Holy Fire Reiki - William Lee Rand.
